About Us

We are the pioneers of the JSS/SSS educational system in Ghana. We entered Opoku Ware School in January 1991 and completed our secondary school education in December 1993.

We are the group who were the pioneers of the Ghana educational reforms, reforms that saw the reduction of the number of years one spends in formal education from potentially 20 years- from primary education to tertiary education- to 15 years. A reduction of 5 years.

Our group was under tremendous amount of pressure both from political oponents of the day who were against the educational reforms of the government and the supporters of the old establishment who all wished for us to fail just to discredit the system

We found ourselves facing a lot of challenges especially as our academic calendar was out of sync with that of the old established system. Most of us were very young and small in stature and in a school like Owass where you are encouraged to be independednt and think independently, the first few months were hectic.

But the resilient AR spirit always came to the fore and we are proud of our achievements as individuals and as a group.

"The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone"

We have amongst our year group, pastors, surgeons, doctors, lawyers, politicians, financial analysts, investment bankers, business owners, business managers, directors, technocrats, civil servants, army officers, security experts, farmers, university lecturers, school teachers and philanthropists etc.

We are one of the most organised year groups of the Opoku Ware School old students associations and our quest for all things excellent and all things noble for our members and especially for our alma mater is helping us forge ahead.

We are ever ready for any challenges not only because we are better than the rest, but more so we attended Opoku Ware School, we are united, we belong to the AR fraterninty and we know nothing but hard work in the face of challenges.
